A design for a management information system with consideration for stochastic variability
Article Abstract:
A management information system (MIS) was designed using a stochastic Petri net for the smoothing of office works. The MIS is comprised of four sections, namely, sales, process management, material purchasing and production. Total expected sojourn time of the documents in each section was obtained, making it possible to determine the existence of unbalanced office work load. The system can also be reconstructed by controlling the operational times in each section of the system, thus allowing the design of the MIS with consideration for the smoothing of office works.

Application of information technology to a virtual enterprise broker: the case of Bill Epstein
Article Abstract:
Information technology (IT) plays a vital role in the establishment of a successful virtual enterprise (VE). IT enhances the quality and speed of information exchange as well as the coordination of activities during the different phases of VE development. In the case of VE broker William Epstein, IT was not used extensively probably because he is not so computer literate. It can also be because several of his ventures are so short lived.
