Deskilling and reskilling within the labour process: the case of computer integrated manufacturing
Article Abstract:
The results of technical change are shaped by managerial comprehensions, and consequent judgements on the manner which technology should be enforced in terms of work organization. Deskilling and reskilling within the labor process is examined within the context of Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM). The study emphasizes the necessity to recognize the organizational and social significance of technical change in general, but particularly within a CIM environment.

Delivery and trade-offs
Article Abstract:
The traditional trade-off between the delivery performance and lead times is not anymore applicable . An improved delivery performance is demonstrated by manufacturing plants with short lead times as compared to those plants with long lead lines. Enterprises can now be competitive by offering shorter lead times to customers but still come up with a high delivery performance.
