Conducting an organizational self-assessment using the 1997 Baldrige Award criteria
Article Abstract:
The Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (MBNQA) criteria for performance excellence can greatly assist companies in determining where they should focus their change efforts. These criteria encourage companies to assess strengths, weaknesses and opportunities. They allow existing problems and improvement opportunities to be identified, creating a basis on which managers can develop targets for change and improvement. An organizational self-assessment as part of an MBNQA approach will involve looking at issues including leadership, strategic planning, human resource development and customer and market focus.

When culture resists change: getting your employees aligned with your strategy
Article Abstract:
Significant organizational change can only take place when all the leadership's thoughts and actions are in line with a clearly defined and communicated vision. The leadership team must know where the organization is going and why, and must communicate this effectively to employees at all levels. If employees are to be required to work in new ways, then they must be provided with the tools needed for success.
