Article Abstract:
The UK's City & Guilds (C&G) training scheme has been in existence for over 50 years and almost all qualified electricians have passed C&G examinations. However, supporters of the newer National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) scheme say the the older examination is out of date and the emphasis of apprentices' training needs to be altered to reflect modern life. Critics of NVQs say that they are inferior to the C&G scheme. Industry training company JTL's chief executive David Rogers believes that the industry's new National Electrotechnical Training organisation will act as a mediator between the two systems.
