Government 'reinterprets sustainability.'
Article Abstract:
New DoE advice on the scope of ministerial guidance for the planned Environment Agency indicates that the government has gone back on its original definition of 'sustainable development,' according to environmental organisations. They are now calling on the government to establish an 'environmental baseline' using statutory objectives on environmental quality. They are also opposing the new Environment Agency, claiming that it will have no legal responsibility to protect and develop the environment.

The UK government has published details of its 'Air Quality Strategy.'
