A study in hygiene and discipline?
Article Abstract:
Nurse training in the UK in the 1950s was very disciplined. Student nurses had close and regular contact with patients, and training had strong links with the work the student nurses were expected to undertake after qualification. A great deal of thought and effort went into nurse training, and equal attention was given to the theory and practice of nursing. Student nurses were required to work very hard, but there was generally a positive atmosphere.

A Byzantine plot?
Article Abstract:
The ruins of an ancient palace that was the center of an empire have been discovered between the Hagia Sophia and the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul, Turkey. This was occupied by the emperor Constantine in A.D. 330, although parts of the excavation have been dated between the fifth and ninth centuries. The palace was abandoned in 1453, and gradually buried as Istanbul grew.
