Impact of external factors on organizational performance
Article Abstract:
The performance of an integrated iron and steel plant was examined based on seven external factors. The factors studied included the non-availability of sanctioned electrical power, low utilization level of debt capacity to avoid dilution of power as well as industrial relations environment in the vicinity of the organization. Results show that non-availability of sanctioned power had the most adverse impact while the most favourable impact on organizational performance came fromthe differential inflation rates between the selling prices and the cost.

Assessing success factors for implementing CE: a case study in Hong Kong electronics industry by AHP
Article Abstract:
A four-phased modelling system based on analytic hierarchy process has been used to evaluate the success factors of concurrent engineering in Hong Kong. The model actually provides decision criteria for the different dimensions of success factors. It was revealed that among the factors considered, implementation methodology was critical to the success of concurrent engineering in Hong Kong. Manufacturers of electronic products in Hong Kong must also pay attention to top management, design assurance and supplier partnership.
