Industrial Research Institute's R&D trends forecasts for 1999
Article Abstract:
The Industrial Research Institute (IRI) forecasts the continuation of favorable trends for 1999. The rate of increase in R&D spending is expected to slow down as evidenced by a somewhat lower level of optimism. US firms, however, indicated that they will continue to focus on R&D activities through alliances and joint ventures. The results of reports from IRI's counterparts in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Korea and Japan and the methodology in sending questionnaires to respondent companies are also presented.
