It's all timing
Article Abstract:
RG Vanderweil Engineers has been retained by a Massachusetts biotechnology firm to study the sanitary and process waste systems of a proposed new wastewater pumping station. The firm started with estimates of waste loads from all existing sources, including toiet facilities, the cafeteria, production suites, water-purification equipment and laboratories. A simple computer model was developed to simulate wastewater flows from the production suites, mechanical and sanitary systems to determine the impact of flow increases on process and main waste-pumping stations.

Tearing down the information wall
Article Abstract:
The introduction of networked project management through computer-aided design has made the work of engineers easier. Through this computer technology, engineers and other project team members can share drawing and document files in real time, even when they are geographically dispersed. This capability results in the reduction of time and resources spent on distributing the latest drawing revisions. In addition, redundant tasks are streamlined and internal communications between team members are enhanced.
