Inverters drive fluid power energy saving: the lowering cost of power electronics makes AC inverters and fixed output pumps both a novel and economically viable way of delivering variable flow

Article Abstract:

Variable speed AC drives can be used to vary the rotation speed of internal gear pumps, allowing economically delivered hydraulic oil flow over a broad speed range. Initially they will be applied to platic injection moulding machines where oil demand fluctuates, according to whether there are moving or stationary rams.
