Modulation source aids vector signal generators
Article Abstract:
Tektronix Inc. of Beaverton, OR, has its SMIQ vector-signal generators aided by the in-phase/quadrature (I/Q), dual-channel AMIQ modulation generator. The AMIQ modulation generator produces different digital-modulation formats by establishing a link with the SMIQ vector-signal generators. The connection established between the AMIQ modulation generator and the SMIQ vector-signal generators generates different formats for digital modulation, which are used to support infrastructure such as Global System for Mobile Communications and time-division-multiple-access.

Vector analyzers measure noise figure
Article Abstract:
Anritsu Co. of Morgan Hill, CA, offers its MS462x line of vector network analyzers, or VNAs, which are equipped with measurement capabilities for noise figures. Anritsu's MS462x VNA range marks the firm's initiative to conform to the trend of incorporating into high-frequency testing machines measurement capabilities. The firm's MS462x VNA line comes in four models, the MS4623B, the MS4622B, the MS4623A and the MS4622A. Anritsu's NS462x range of VNAs is appropriate for testing applications on high-volume production operations, as well as for design functions.

Cellular-aided GPS pinpoints portable phones
Article Abstract:
SnapTrack Inc. has its patented software-based system integrated with the cellular infrastructure and the Global Positioning System, or GPS, of the government for the location of distress cellular calls. SnapTrack's system, which can be run from the digital-signal-processing, or DPS, chip of cellular handsets, is a component of the federal government's proposed enhanced 911 (E-911) wireless emergency system. The E-911 system also enables users to maintain the privacy of his location through its Location On Demand feature.
