Performance optimization of a system through the transitive interaction between its sections
Article Abstract:
The performance of a section of a system significantly affects the performance of subsets due to interdependence. The performance of a section is not affected by factors which do not affect other sections' performance. These factors are intrinsic factors and the alteration of the system performance due to performance variation interaction is evident. The creation of approximate data regarding interdependence and effectivity quantification of intrinsic factors provides an accurate picture of the actual situation.

A multipass optimization strategy for CNC lathe operations
Article Abstract:
A new methodology is proposed for optimizing machining conditions in multipass operations associated with computer-aided manufacturing systems. The method uses sequential quadratic programming to solve the multipass turning problem inherent in such operations. A constrained nonlinear programming prohblem is also solved to optimize the machining process. The proposed method has been applied to a computer numerical control lathe machine with satisfactory results.

Low costs and carbon dioxide emissions through efficient power production methods in Finland
Article Abstract:
The outstanding efficiency of Finland's power production resources is evident in its international ranking as the world's highest share of cogeneration and in its nuclear power best operation record. The Finnish system's success is attributed to the country's qualified long-term planning, skillful operation and plant maintenance which have minimized power production costs and carbon dioxide emissions.
