Quality in nonprofits: no longer uncharted territory

Article Abstract:

Anixter Center, a large agency in Chicago, IL, seeking to rehabilitate disabled people, has received an Excellence in Service Quality Award from the United Way of America. This agency has been able to maintain quite low administrative costs, but has been able to implement quality techniques to reduce costs or boost revenue in a number of areas. Anixter Center's experiences highlight the fact that government relations are one of the main challenges associated with implementing total quality management in a non-profit or human-service organization.

The critical role of quality in the tourism system

Article Abstract:

Quality management initiatives have a key role to play in the tourism industry. Such initiatives ensure that both business and leisure travellers have high quality travel experiences. Quality depends on the traveller's actual experience with a tourism product or service, assessed against his or her expectations. Tourism businesses can only give tourists quality products and services through introducing a formal quality management scheme.
