Article Abstract:
Traditional quality assurance will undergo a revolutionary change as organizations switch from mass production to mass customization. The new approach equates quality with integrity and proposes empowerment of workers to achieve quality goals. Managers and employees should work in teams to produce products that satisfy the customers. Organizations will have to change their culture as their goal should be customer satisfaction rather than conformance.

Article Abstract:
W. Edwards Deming was a warm, charming, humane and caring person. Despite being afflicted with several illnesses that accompany old age, he managed to look cheerful. Deming mustered enough strength to complete his last seminar in 1993 but died five days before Christmas. Although he is already dead, he left a lasting legacy in the area of quality management, with the many available videotapes of his lectures and courses.
