The Invicta Leisure Complex at Doxford Business Park, Sunderland, has a range of facilities, including tennis and badminton courts, aerobics rooms, a gym, swimming pools, restaurant and function rooms. The design and build, mechanical and electrical engineering contract was completed by Rotrax, using state-of-the-art electrical and mechanical engineering. Safety is important, and radiators have low surface temperature, water taps having blending valves to prevent scalding and wall sockets are placed higher above the floor in the creche.

Article Abstract:

Work in confined spaces kills 15 people a year in the UK throughout a wide range of industries. Services contractors are particularly exposed to the risks of working in confined spaces, through the dangers of lack of oxygen, fire and explosions, poisonous gas, dust and hot conditions. Contractors must assess the risk for all work activities to determine the measures necessary for safety, and if risk of serious injury is identified the Confined Spaces Regulations 1997 will apply.
