Setting sail with software: electrical contractors use a wide range of software
Article Abstract:
Cegelec Projects was the electrical contractor chosen by Samsung to install propulsion and control systems on a drilling tanker. Cegelec used Micro Planner X-Pert to help it meet budget and deadline targets, and it was particularly useful at the tendering stage. The software package co-ordinated the plans of other subcontractors involved, enabling the project to be modelled before it actually started. Once the project was started X-Pert monitored each sub project against the model and tracked the reliability of the individual contractors.

Shine on high
Article Abstract:
The Church Floodlighting Trust is managing a scheme which aims to have 400 UK churches floodlight by the end of the 1990s, compared with the present very small number. The scheme, funded by the Millennium Commission, will allow interested churches to receive a capital funding grant for up to 50% of the total installation cost. The Trust will provide a lighting scheme brief which gives advice on many different aspects of floodlighting. The scheme will bring considerable opportunities for ECA member firms.
