How to manage key business processes
Article Abstract:
Borden Chemical, a resin-manufacturing plant in Kent, WA, attributes its success to two factors. One is the effective management of key business processes such as inventory control, shipping, safety, continuous improvement and new product manufacturing. A second factor are the special skills needed to manage these key processes, which are cross-functional in nature. The company incorporated the system to its daily operations, wherein departments were urged to work as a team, devise improvements and remove departmental obstacles and territories to prevent bureaucracies.

The process can pose a negative effect on employees in terms of teamwork and human interaction. Organizations need to evaluate the effects of reengineering before deciding whether or not to pursue such plan of action.
