Integrating ISO 9001 and ISO 14001
Article Abstract:
The integration of ISO 9001, the international quality standard, and ISO 14001, the environmental management system baseline, into a single standard can ensure a total systems approach and functional organizational management. The elements of ISO 14001 can be ingrained into the relevant ISO 9001 clauses. The executive management needs to formulate a policy statement for environmental and quality management, document management reviews, and define organizational responsibilities and authority. Several other issues for integrating the system requirements of the two standards are discussed.
