Taking Orders
Article Abstract:
Voice Computer Technologies' Series 2000 uses from two to five universal processors to accept and verify orders received through touch-tone telephones. 8089 microprocessors provide information to an 8086 microprocessor which records orders, transmits digitized voice messages, and updates inventory files. A diagram illustrates the system, which can handle up to eight phone lines simultaneously.

Taking Temperatures
Article Abstract:
An 8048 microprocessor-based instrument measures temperature of molten metal by determining how much infrared radiation the metal emits. An infrared sensor in the instrument sends signals to the microprocessor for conversion to temperature. The measurements are more reliable, accurate, and cheaper than those from analog instruments.
