The 17th of December 2003 marks the 100th anniversary of Orville Wright and his brother Wilbur's 12-second, 40-meter flight down the beach at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. They invented the first piloted, engine-driven, heavier-than-air machine in order to achieve sustained flight.
