The environment
Article Abstract:
The electronics industry will likely implement a product takeback policy in 1996 that will take into account a wide range of environmental considerations. This policy will make electronics manufacturers responsible for the ultimate disposition of their products and encourage them to develop environment-friendly production technologies. The industry is also expected to implement water conservation programs as well as redesign and engineering solutions to environmental problems in 1996.

Article Abstract:
The growing awareness over environmental issues and the advent of new manufacturing and design technologies are likely to lead to a new generation of power electronic converters. This new breed of power electronic converters will differ radically from device-driven technologies since they will be designed to meet environmental, manufacturing, packaging and electromagnetics standards.
