The ten commandments
Article Abstract:
Some rules should be followed when designing intrinsically safe (IS) electrical equipment to be used in hazardous conditions. The designer must be sure their circuit is workable and includes IS features which do not affect its functionality. The equipment must be rigorously assessed before going for certification. But the initial assessment should be uncomplicated. The designer should undertake the responsibility of talking to the certification engineer, as they will be the most knowledgable. Any IS project is time consuming and customers must be supply sufficient resources.
