Towards a framework for analyzing efficiency during start-up: an empirical investigation of a Swedish auto manufacturer
Article Abstract:
The four independent variables of work method, work pace, process disturbances and product conformance either separately or integrally affect output and the increase of efficiency during start-up. This was gleaned from data from the start-up phase of the new Volvo S70 model introduced in the Volvo Torslanda final assembly plant, using an engineering cost model. A framework for analyzing efficiency during manufacturing start-up was developed, which focuses efforts on specific improvement areas not only during start-up but as early as the preproduction phase.

Development of the production using participative simulation games: two case studies
Article Abstract:
The use of interactive and participative simulation games to develop production processes was evaluated in two case studies. The first case study involved a simulation game used in a printing house, while the other simulation game was applied in a roll shop in a paper finishing machinery production. The simulation games were found to be viable in testing and evaluating the required modifications in a production process before they are implemented.
