Food consumption patterns and their influence on climate change

Article Abstract:

Levels of greenhouse gas emissions calculated for Swedish produce indicate differences depending on the vegetable group. Overall, carrot emissions were lower when produced within or nearby Sweden, but higher for tomatoes produced in the same region. Carrot emissions were prominent during transportation and storage, while tomato emissions were prominent during growth via the fuel needed to heat tomato greenhouses.
