Silvicultural management in maintaining biodiversity and resistance of forests in Europe-temperate zone

Article Abstract:

The changes in the stand structure, growth, and conditions of temperate forests in Europe due to climatic changes and other environmental changes are reviewed. It is suggested that silvicultural measures should be used to convert the forest structure into more resistance structure in order to maintain the long-term sustainability.

Article Abstract:

The size, number, and minimum area of protected forest networks and the present situation of setting protected forest networks in Europe are analyzed. Recommendations on optimizing the conservation area networks in future based upon international experience are given.
