Article Abstract:
Elephant tusks continue to be used to make billiard balls because many cue makers and pool players prefer the slippery ivory balls to synthetic imitations. International trade in elephant ivory, however, is prohibited under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. Cue makers are trying to find quality ivory substitutes.
