Stepping up the pace
Article Abstract:
Many machine industries are looking forward to exhibiting their high speed machines during the 1998 MACH exhibit. Beaumont Machine Tools places emphasis on the need to ensure harmony between the control system and machine tool, and not just the requirement of high speed spindles and feed rates. This requires the use of strong processing capability, applications expertise and compensation software. UK-manufactured RA-1G will be part of the overall demonstration. The machine features an integrally-constructed pallet change system which offers spindle speeds up to 15,000 rpm.

Cancer anyone?
Article Abstract:
The Delaney Clause needs to be strengthened and upheld. Enacted in 1958, the Delaney Clause stops the Food and Drug Administration from approving any food additive proven to cause cancer in animals or humans. In Jul 1992 a federal appeals court ruled that cancer-causing chemicals must be removed from processed food. In response to this ruling, lobbyists from the Food and Drug Administration have tried to eliminate the Delaney Clause.
