Cows, humans and hydrology in the nitrogen dynamics of a grazed rural watershed

Article Abstract:

Nutrient relationships between land and ocean are evaluated in a study conducted to assess the impact of the incorporation of food imported for dairy cows/humans, waste management and milk export into the nitrogen inputs of the Tomales, CA, watershed. It was found that nitrogen inputs to the system exceed hydrological outputs by about two kilogram hectares supra (-1) year supra (-1). A detailed analysis of the study is presented.
