Chairman of the BBC Board of Governors Marmaduke James Hussey, 69, will remain in charge until 1996. He lost a leg in the war when he was in the Grenadier Guards. He was previously chief executive at Times Newspapers where he caused the 1978 closure of the Times and Sunday Times over the introduction of direct input technology. He tried to improve BBC bureaucracy by appointing Sir Michael Checkland director-general in 1986, but in Jul 1991 he announced that John Birt would replace him in Mar 1993.

Where Sangiovese feels at home
Article Abstract:
During the 1970s and 1980s the Chianti wine of Tuscany was in trouble because of poor management of the Sangiovese grape vineyards. Vintners were even allowed to add 'better' grapes to make the Chianti. Carefully pruning of Sangiovese grape vines however makes for a superior Chianti.

Killing coyotes
Article Abstract:
The Animal Damage Control program is a government agency that exterminates animals deemed harmful to livestock. Their methods of eliminating predatory animals such as coyotes are contested as inhumane, doing more harm than good to the environment.
