Measuring dispersal in a metapopulation using stable isotope enrichment: high rates of sex-biased dispersal between patches in a mayfly metapopulation
Article Abstract:
Female mayflies belonging to a metapopulation spread across two beaver ponds have demonstrated incomplete mixing between ponds, while males rarely dispersed from their pond of origin. A nitrogen stable isotope enrichment technique passively marked all developing mayfly larvae, and proved effective for this study.

Identification of suitable unoccupied habitats in metapopulation studies using co-occurrence of species
Article Abstract:
A new quantitative technique to identify suitable but unoccupied habitats for metapopulation studies in plants is proposed. The approach is compared with the direct approach of identification of suitable habitats and the benefits of the new approach are discussed.

Resource and habitat patches, landscape ecology and metapopulation biology: a consensual viewpoint
Article Abstract:
The general relation between the habitats and spatial locations or vegetal formations is discussed. Roger Dennis, Tim Shreeve and Hans Van Dyck (DSVD) discuss the different scales of environmental heterogeneity at which organisms react.
