Tempering exodus
Article Abstract:
Migration results from social problems prevalent in a community. Inequality, poverty, unemployment and the desire for personal growth and fulfillment are some of the reasons that motivate a person to move from one place to another. The effects of migration are manifested in the changes that have occurred in the quality of rural life. Hence, the government should undertake measures to curb this problem and encourage individuals to stay in the countryside. Policies should be geared towards employment and improvement of social services and facilities. Several countries have been successful in this endeavor.

The 'Women's Movement.' (migration of Latin-American women)
Article Abstract:
Modern technology and industrialization in Latin America has displaced women in the labor force. The sharp decline of job opportunities in the countryside left them no choice but to migrate to the city. The recession of the 1980's even forced them to look for employment in US. This situation has lasting repercussions on the rural family whose economic survival depend on each member's manual and financial contributions. Unless government undertake policies that could bring about economic and social development, the trend of women's migration and attendant social problems will persist.

A state-space model to derive bluefin tuna movement and habitat from archival tags
Article Abstract:
A framework for modeling bluefin tuna movement in relation to its habitat is introduced using records of light, depth and temperature from archival tags. The performance of the model greatly benefits from the adequate formalization of different variability sources, and allows potentially revealing interactions between the fish and its habitat.
