Biomass facility uses energy crops, wood and AG by-products
Article Abstract:
The Koda Energy project is a biomass-to-energy project created by the Shakopee Mde Wakanton Sioux community (SMSC) and Rahr Malting Company of Shakopee. Energy crops such as switchgrass improves water quality by providing a continuous cover that stabilizes the soil, decreases nutrient transport and protect erosion and similarly, by-products from agricultural processing industries that Koda Energy would use as fuel are currently low value residues to extend livestock feed.

Controlling odors, making compost at North London Center
Article Abstract:
The London Waste Composting Center, which was officially opened in March 2006, is aiming to divert some 30,000 metric tons/year of organic feedstocks from the landfill. Several modular composting technologies and methods of controlling the odor of the waste are discussed, also indicating that the UK's compost production represents a significant movement in the waste management sector.
