Article Abstract:
The use of biosolids and disposal practice vary greatly within the US Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Region 9. A variety of practices are used in the San Francisco Bay Area alone. The majority of Nevada's biosolids are landfilled, with the exception of Reno.In California beneficial use has been underway for decades, and by 1993 17% of its biosolids were directly land applied. The lighter side of biosolids
Article Abstract:
Andy Duppin is a stuntman who raises cattle on the side. He uses hay and corn raised on biosolid-amended fields as feeds for his animals and the meat from his steers have excellent quality. An analysis of the heavy metal content of the liver and kidneys raised on feeds from biosolid-amended fields reveal that these tissues contain less of these metals compared to animals raised on conventional feeds.
