Recycling pays off at construction site
Article Abstract:
The Maui Recycling Group (MRG) was set up in 1989 and is a non-profit organization that aims to change the attitudes of the construction industry in Hawaii toward recycling. The group has been involved in a project hosted by Smith Development at the company's Liholani Golf Village Development. MRG provided educational services, with the construction supervisor involved in training. There was a cost reduction from not having to pay tipping fees, and dry wall scraps were used as insulation rather than taken off site.

Where do the seeds of recycling come from?
Article Abstract:
The state of Minnesota registered the highest level of recycling and composting in the annual 'The State of Garbage in America' survey, but there are wide gaps in recovery levels from state to state. There are also significant variations in recovery levels in Europe, with Germany posting some of the highest recovery rates, and the UK lagging behind. The US lacks the ability of the EU to handle recycling matters as a nation.
