California egg ranch solves manure problem
Article Abstract:
The Glaum Family Egg Ranch solved their manure management problem through the installation of an automatic composting system. An enclosed bay system, equipped with a Farmer Automatic Model 310 aerator-composter and an automated odor control system, handles the composting end of the waste management system and provides the company with extra business selling organic fertilizer. The demand for compost from the system is high because of its consistency in physical properties and chemical composition.

Sludge and yard waste cocomposted in Texas
Article Abstract:
The Hornsby Bend Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF) in Austin, TX is producing a new waste recycling product. Marketed as Dillo Dirt, it is digested, dried sludge blended with chipped tree trimmings and treated through an aerobic process, then screened for public use by the state's Department of Health. Use of the compost product is, however, limited only to conditioning and fertilizing soil for plants not intended for human consumption.
