Cost efficient recycling programs
Article Abstract:
Recycling managers of solid waste have to cut costs and work with limited resources. Washington has fixed a target of 50% diversion rate, but according to a survey, only a few could cross this barrier by the year 1995. In Western Washington, the 21 jurisdictions have their own Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Planning (CSWMP) measures. Cutting costs down and keeping a reasonable diversion rate is the key to gaining control of the solid waste system.

Tree trimmers seek recycling options
Article Abstract:
Tree trimming companies Asplundh Tree Expert Co of Willow Grove, PA, and The Davey Tree Expert Company of Kent, OH, are considering the recycling of the wood chips that they generate in their operations through composting. Their decisions were influenced by the increase in tipping fees of landfills. However, logistical problems such as the decentralised operations, transportation costs and minimal waste generation are yet to be solved.
