E.L. Harvey & Sons is a family-owned and operated waste recycling firm based in Westboro, MA. The firm was established in the 1940s to recycle cardboard, newspaper, rags and ferrous and nonferrous metals. The firm maintains three buildings equipped with a state-of-the-art Machinex Sorting System to process materials such as high-grade scrap paper. To better secure materials, E.L. Harvey introduced an education program designed to teach customers how and what to recycle. The firm has shifted the bulk of its materials to overseas markets to 10% from 90% and concentrates on customer service to ensure its success.

KTI Inc. of Guttenberg, NJ, has steadily developed new paper recycling operations in the US after earlier posting a solid performance in the incineration and waste-to-energy industries. Players in both the investment and recycling industries are interested in the potential of this national waste processing company whose growth has been based on acquisitions. KTI presently manages over one million tons of recyclables, and one million tons of biomass waste, specialty waste, non-hazardous industrial waste, and municipal solid waste.

Through communication, suppliers ensure that the paper they deliver is the right quality, to announce the grade of paper needed and to certify that the paper meets quality standards and is not contain contaminants.
