The "Principles of Unity on Trade and Investment: A Call for Global Fairness" is a set of principles at the heart of the United State's trade policy. The principles, established by a coalition of environmental, religious and labor groups, focus on five key areas: democracy; workers and human rights; environment and public interest; agriculture; and debt and development.

After backing the Bush administrations energy bill, labor unions are looking to a forthcoming campaign opposing new trade negotiating authority and other anti-globalization efforts to strengthen their shaky alliance.
