Fate of weed seeds
Article Abstract:
Heat treatment is an effective means of preventing weed seeds within compost feedstocks from sprouting after compost application. A heat treatment temperature of 55 degrees Celsius is sufficient for destroying weed seeds from species such as pineapple-weed, annual meadowgrass, common chickweed, prickly sow-thistle and black nightshade.
