Solid waste composting plants in a steady state
Article Abstract:
Municipal solid waste composting facilities are striving to consolidate their position by focusing on expanding the market for their better quality composted products. Of the 18 facilities in operation in the nation, 12 are public undertakings, four are managed privately and the remaining are privately operated public undertakings. These composting facilities have adopted diversified means to better manage municipal solid wastes by removing and processing a wider range of recyclable materials.

The state of garbage in America
Article Abstract:
Fewer laws were passed on recycling in the United States in 1992, although a few states enacted comprehensive legislations in fixing waste reduction goals and banning certain chemical products from disposal. Two comprehensive laws passed in the neighboring states of South Dakota and Nebraska stipulated waste reduction goals of 50% and a ban on the disposal of motor oil, batteries and newsprint.
