Green roof storm water modeling
Article Abstract:
Green roof storm water modeling system developed by New York City, Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for reducing sewage water flow and water quality problem caused by combined sewer overflow from steady rainfall is discussed. Green roofs use waterproof membrane and the green roof storm water modeling system has helped architects, homeowners, planners, and policy makers to calculate the retention of storm water and detention of green roof on a building.

New York State Correctional composting update
Article Abstract:
The New York State Department of Correctional Services (NYS DOC) started the correctional composting program in 1990 to refine collection protocol and compost process control as well as determine economic feasibility for expanded operations. The NYS DOCS system will field test new products as the utility and environmental advantages of biobased products could fill a need in selected instances.

Sustainable materials build a Nomadic Museum

Principal Architect Shigeru Ban of Tokyo and Associate Architect Dean Maltz of New York designed the Nomadic Museum located on Pier 54 in New York City, which is the first of its kind in the world. The museum features postindustrial design and recycled fixtures and even transportability.
