Fairgrounds continue strong diversion efforts
Article Abstract:
The Del Mar Fairgrounds has achieved a diversion rate of nearly 90% through recycling more than 24,000 tons of discarded materials and making over $1.1m in profits by avoiding fees it earlier paid for recyclable material marketing. The 400-acre park has used reclaimed water for grounds irrigation in addition to source reduction and recycling and has also cut its energy consumption by 15%.
