Home composting around the Bay
Article Abstract:
The nonprofit organization San Francisco League of Urban Gardeners (SLUG) began linking its gardening education efforts with solid waste management in 1989 in response to a growing public interest in recycling and reducing solid waste disposal. Under the program, SLUG produced home composting brochures, held workshops, started a telephone hotline and set up a home composting education center. Since then, the program has grown and interest in home composting across the country has increased.
