Beating arson in Hertfordshire
Article Abstract:
The Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service teamed up with the Hertfordshire Police Authority and all 10 district councils for their three-year arson reduction strategy. The strategy includes counselling for youngsters involved in arson and the reduction of arson targets like removing abandoned cars and securing derelict buildings. The new strategy builds on the success of a previous three-year strategy that delivered a 40% reduction in arson cases.

School fires highlight critical arson threat level
Article Abstract:
Around 60% of the 1,800 school fires are caused by arson, and were likely to be started by students who are 10-18 years of age. A survey revealed that school fires are caused by poor safety practices, particularly the practice of fire door wedging. A timeline of school fires that occurred from September 11, 2006 to August 28, 2007 is presented.
