Integrated approach to digesters in Washington State

Article Abstract:

A team of Washington State University researchers and extension specialists is developing an integrated research and demonstration program on anaerobic digestion of animal manure. The research projects encompass activities that range from bench-scale laboratory studies in a specially designed anaerobic digestion 'hot room' to pilot-scale and field scale studies at the WSU Dairy Center and Prosser Agriculture Station to commercial studies at the Vander Haak farm in Lyden, Washington.

Farm-based digester conference highlights

Article Abstract:

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's AgSTAR National Conference on anaerobic digestion for livestock waste was participated by over 300 livestock producers, project developers and energy professionals to discuss technological alternatives, regulatory and electric facilities, difficulties and industry potentials.

Anaerobic digesters in manure management

Article Abstract:

Animal manure can only be treated by using aerobic and anaerobic processes with anaerobic digesters being the optimal and cost-effective solution. However the number of anaerobic digesters operating in the United States is limited.
