London Fire Brigade plans for 2007/08

The London Fire Brigade plans to set higher community safety work targets, enhance training and reduce environmental impact for the years 2007-08. The Brigade earmarked 2.1 million pounds sterling for improvement of training and development, while 4.4 million were set aside for reduction of energy consumption.

London first to publicly pledge support for reserves

The London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority signed the Supporting Britain's Reservists and Employers' statement of support for the reserves. The public sector feels that the cause is worth supporting and that reservists add value to the workforce.

Commendation for horse rescue
Article Abstract:
Firefighter Kevin Maguire of the Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service received a Chief Fire Officer's Commendation for rescuing a horse in a disused mine shaft. He was lowered down to a shaft 40 feet below the surface to rescue the horse.
