Living up to the good neighbor policy: what does it take to gain approval from those residents who live closest to operating composting facilities? for a start - lots of persistence
Article Abstract:
Complaints from neighbours resulted in a plant shut-down for Peter Watts, who opened a commercial compost site in Cape Cod. In order to re-open Watts, agreed to restrictions on the residuals accepted at the plant, and he also extended an invitation to locals and the Board of Health to visit the site. Professional Services Group's biosolids composting facility in New York has also faced the wroth of neighbours, along with the Cape May County Municipal Authority biosolids compost unit, and the Kurtz Brothers yard trimmings compost site in Columbus Ohio.

Bagging and blending strengthen compost markets
Article Abstract:
Companies that sell compost only by bulk are now branching into selling compost by bags. With this new process of selling, compost is now available to retail costumers as well as to wholesale consumers. One company that profits from selling compost in bags is Glacier Gold which is based in Olney, MT. The company's primary product is lumber and it only branched out to compost to dispose of sawdust. The company has become one of the biggest sellers of compost in bags and by bulks.
