Nearing the finish line?
Article Abstract:
The waste recycling procedures in North America are growing and evolving everyday. The recovery techniques for packaging materials and yard trimmings is quite well developed. Better systems for delivering collection and processing services, and improved marketing efforts are required. Millions of North Americans send their discards to landfills instead of accessing the residential recycling collection units. The thrust of recycling should be on recovery rather than on disposables. Material recovery facilities should be able to process all types of separated disposables.

Increasing the recycling force
Article Abstract:
The ability of the recycling industry to recover packaging materials and used consumer goods is much more limited than the ability of manufacturers to produce new products and packaging. Extensive investment is made in advertising consumer goods, but there is no equivalent investment in advertising to encourage recycling, source reduction and composting. In order to achieve sustainable recycling, there must be an infrastructure that corresponds with the production and delivery of consumer goods manufacturers.

What's it costing?
Article Abstract:
The cost effectiveness of solid waste recycling is a legitimate concern that should be addressed even with the uprightness implied in recycling. In this regard, the recycling program of Seattle and a preliminary analysis of the economics of municipal recycling are presented for the solutionof this issue. It was found that mandatory recycling programs are definitely more cost-effective than traditional collection and disposal methods.
