Higher diversion versus economic realities
Article Abstract:
The town of Markham, Ontario is going for a less expensive way of attaining higher levels of diversion after testing source separation in Blue Boxes versus commingling in bags and backyard and centralized composting. Two instant steps are being taken. The first one is expanded fiber gathering and distribution of a second blue box to the town's 41,000 households. The second step is enhancing grass cycling and continued disbursing of backyard composting units.
