Old landfill becomes new regional compost center
Article Abstract:
The composting facility Bellmawr Ecological and Garden Center, New Jersey, recycles natural waste products from all over the region into various products including topsoil and mulches. The cost-effective recycling process made 85,000 US dollars profit in 1997, according to site superintendent Joe Ciano. Waste tippers are charged two US dollars per cubic yard of leaves and six US dollars per cubic yard of straight brush.

A range of recycled glass products are available on the market using a material called glasscrete. Attractive products such as bird tables and plant pot holders are being made out of Glasscrete by manufacturer Scatter Creek. Glasscrete, which consists of a concrete and crushed glass mixture, is made using a cost-effective and profitable process that recycles unwanted glass.
